I will take the opportunity right now to thank Mark & Vicki Hill, Jim & Connie Gillette, Jim & Kathy Kuk, and Bill & Sylvia Edwards for the outstanding shrimp dinners last weekend. There were several false starts with the shrimp delivery order from Sysco late in the week and in the end, the Edwards son in law stopped by Sysco in Grand Rapids on the way north, picked up the order, and arrived about 4:00 p.m Friday. Plenty of time, right?

Please join us tomorrow, Sunday August 21st from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the first LYC Art Show & Fundraiser. Luci Lavis and Marina McGee came up with this idea a while back and the initial response has been inspiring! Cancer has touched nearly every member of our club, so they decided to combine their love for art and the opportunity to help combat this insipid disease. Artist entry fees and 15% of all sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Refreshments will be available with donations going to the ACS as well. So far there is a tentative list of 6-8 artists slated to show their work, including fabric arts, watercolor, drawing, acrylics, jewelry, glass artwork, dioramas, photography, and wood art.
Tuesday August 23 – FERGBURGS!! The grill opens at 5:30 p.m. and closes promptly at 7:00 p.m. (unless the supply of burgers runs out prior to that). A $10 dollar donation to the Sailing School gets you the best burger in town with a choice of sides. After this, only 2 Fergburg dates remain this season (September 6 & 20).
Friday August 26 – Cocktails at the Club return beginning around 5:30 p.m. Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and join this informal gathering of members.
Saturday August 27 – ITALIAN DINNER! Hosted by Brad and Cory Beagle & crew. The menu will include Chicken Alfredo, Lasagna, Italian tossed Antipasta Salad, and for dessert, Tiramisu. Cost will be $15 per person cash or punch combination. Please call or text Sandy at (231) 690-6224 to make a reservation starting today! If you are making reservations for other members as well as yourself, please let her know.Reservations will close at the end of the day on Wednesday August 24.
