Please join us on Sunday August 21st from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. for the first LYC Art Show & Fundraiser. Luci Lavis and Marina McGee came up with this idea a while back and the initial response has been inspiring! Cancer has touched nearly every member of our club, so we decided to combine our love for art and the opportunity to help combat this insipid disease. Artist entry fees and 15% of all sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Refreshments will be available with donations going to the ACS as well.
So far there is a tentative list of 6-8 artists slated to show their work, including fabric arts, watercolor, drawing, acrylics, jewelry, glass artwork, dioramas, photography, and wood art. We have room for a few more now that the addition is available. Contact Marina McGee (231-266-2018) or Luci Lavis (231-843-1561 to reserve a display area. Artist’s entry fee ($20) will cover 1 round table and floor space for display. Artists can begin setting up at 10am.
Sailing activities – Thursday evening racing particulars will be announced later this week.
Looking ahead – Fergburgs Tuesday August 23 and an Italian dinner Saturday August 27 (rsvp starting Sunday August 21).
Work is slated to continue beginning Monday to the repair of the north seawall.
Monday is National Relaxation Day so it is a good way to start a great week everyone!
