Cocktails at the Club continue every Friday evening beginning around 5:00 p.m.  Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and see who shows up.  It’s a great time to get to know fellow LYC members.

Tuesday May 29:  The second Fergburg of the season is Tuesday May 29.  Gary Ferguson’s famous burgers will be served beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the grill closes precisely at 7:00 p.m.  Bring a complementary dish to share if you wish.  Burgers are $5.00 each and proceeds go the Ludington Youth Sailing School (LYSS).  Fergburgs are an every other Tuesday event throughout the summer.

Saturday June 2 – Welcome to summer picnic:  At this event, we will be playing Corn Hole and Croquet (still looking for another croquet set, call Gail at 616 490-1255) at the Club.  The event will start with games at 1:00 p.m.  The bar will be open all afternoon.  Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m.
The Menu is BBQ Chicken, Baked Beans, Potato & Macaroni Salad, Cole Slaw, Rolls and Ice Cream topped with Strawberries.  This will be a $10 meal.
Please call or text Sandy Gomez for dinner reservations.  Reservations will close Wednesday, May 30.  If you leave a message or text, kindly leave your first and last name, the number of guests, and if they are members please leave their name as well.

The bar cash register has been reprogrammed to account for beer, wine, liquor, and miscellaneous sales.  Instructions for operation are along side the register.  Please exercise care when purchasing bar products and ringing up the sale.

Activities Update

SWISS STEAK DINNER, SATURDAY MAY 19.  Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, rolls, and desert.  Cost is $10 per person or punch on your membership card (need to have card with you).  Social hour begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner is served at 7:00 p.m.    RESERVATIONS REQUIRED – CALL OR TEXT SANDY GOMEZ AT 231-690-6224.  RESERVATIONS WILL CLOSE TOMORROW, MONDAY, MAY 14 AT 5:00 p.m.  At this time there is still room for additional reservations.  If you leave a message or text, kindly leave your first and last name, the number of guests, and if you are making reservations for other members please leave their name as well.

OTHER NEWS

Docks – all east and west electrical pedestals are installed and functional with new electrical and water service.  Existing pedestals on the wall that service the seawall are still working and will eventually be replaced as well.  New hose hanger posts and brackets will be installed in the next couple weeks.  Thanks to Gary Ferguson, Steve Wegener, Harry Schrot, Mark Hill, Connelly Bowling for accomplishing this in short order.

Thanks also go out to Jim McGee, Dale Fitch, Scott Hultman, Steve Wegener, Harry Schrot, Bill Lobenherz, and Gary Ferguson for early spring dock work to lower bubblers, remove pumps, ice eaters, and generally ready the docks for occupancy.

Coming Events at LYC

Thanks to everyone involved in organizing and preparing the Kentucky Derby dinner party.  It was a great time!  Congrats to the Hat Contest winners, Gloria Merchant and Linda Zaydel, as well as to those who picked winning horses.

The Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) class originally scheduled for May 15 has been postponed until a yet to be determined date in June.

GRATE they really are missing, the grates to the gas grill that is.  Seems they disappeared late last fall and have not been seen since.  It anyone has a clue, please respond to this message.

The dock committee is seeking assistance with the installation of new electrical pedestals this week.  If you can lend a hand for a few hours, please call Gary Ferguson 231- 690-3710.

Friday May 4 is the weekly “Cocktails at the Club” .  Bring an appetizer to share if you wish.  Begins about 5:00 p.m. and continues until everyone leaves!

Saturday May 5 is the first scheduled event of 2018. The Kentucky Derby social will start at 5:00 p.m. with pre-race wagering, betting and socializing.  The race start is at 6:30 p.m.
Ladies should wear their fancy hats for the hat contest.
The menu will include:
Virginia Roasted Peanuts
Veggies
French Dip Sliders
Old Fashion Mac-n-Cheese
Cole Slaw
Ice Cream with Maple Syrup and Pecans
Cost for this event is $10.00 per person, cash or punch.

Tuesday May 15:  Techniques of Alcohol Management (TAM) class at LYC at 11am.  Now is the time to renew your TAM certification or obtain certification.  In order to open the bar, there must be a TAM certified member on the premises.  It is beneficial to have certification should you find yourself at the club with no one around and you wish to purchase a beer or cocktail.  The cost is $15 per member with the club picking up the remaining $15 of the training cost.  If you wish to take advantage of this opportunity, please respond to this message and I’ll put you on the list.
