Upcoming Events at LYC

9 Jul

What a great rib dinner last evening staged by Adam Lamb, Alex Zaydel, and a suite of helpers.  Seventy four members and guests were treated to fall-off-the-bone ribs, decadent butter & garlic potatoes, cole slaw, and a variety of pie for dessert.  Thanks to everyone who made this event a success.
NEXT UP: Friday & Saturday July 14 & 15, Steve Miller and crew will be hosting a WALLEYE dinner both nights.Cost will be $15 per person cash.  Social starts at 6:00 p.m. with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. Menu to include walleye fillets, hush puppies, cole slaw, twice baked potatoes & dessert.

Please call or text Sandy to reserve space for this dinner event.  If you text or leave a message please include your full name and which night you wish to reserve.  Reservations will be taken until Thursday July 13.Why the switch from Perca flavescens (lake perch) to Sander vitreus (walleye) you ask?  Perch were not available from any distributor at this time.  So it was decided to serve the perch’s larger family cousin, the walleye, which are readily available and just as tasty!

Steve is also asking for volunteers to help pull this off so please contact Steve directly by phone or text or via email (millersteve919@charter.net) if you can lend a hand. Also on tap for next week:Tuesday July 11 – FERGBURGS to support the sailing school.  Grilling starts at 5:30 and continues until 7:00 p.m.  $10 per person gets you the best burger in town and a choice of sides (potato salad, cole slaw, beans, or cream corn).

Thursday July 13 – Sailboat racing.

Reminder to all:  At last week’s general membership meeting the issue of building security was discussed.  It is incumbent upon all LYC members who frequent and use the club to ensure that the building is secure when leaving.  All doors and windows need to be closed and locked, including (and this is important) the interior door to the bathroom hallway.  If others are in the building or about the grounds, communicate with them as to who will be responsible to secure the building when leaving.  Do not assume that someone else will “lock up”.Please do not share door combinations with non-members.  If everyone makes it a habit to ensure the building is secure when leaving, we can continue to have the club accessible to all members all of the time.
