First, a big thank you to the social committee (Gail Kretchman, Guen Hultman, & Shelley Tibbits) and their crew of helpers for Saturday’s Kentucky Derby party. Carolyn Schnepel was the winner of the “Best Hat” contest. Over 30 members watched as their favorite horse won, or lost, the big race.
It’s going to be a quiet week at LYC.
Friday “Cocktails at the Club” is the only thing on the schedule. Starting about 5:30 p.m. Bring an appetizer if you wish and see who shows up. This is a great way to connect with fellow members, new and old, in a very informal way.
I realized recently that I should have elaborated a bit on the Yachting Club of America (YCA) reciprocal courtesy cards that were included with your LYC membership cards. The YCA represents over 300,000 members of over 700 registered sailing and yachting clubs in America. Membership offers courtesy reciprocal privileges at many of these clubs. There is a register of member yacht clubs available at our clubhouse. You can also access the register on the YCA website (www.ycaol.com) by using our login, club1040 and password y100446c
I also erred in providing door combination codes. The code to the southeast door (bathrooms) is 5-3-1. I never get that one correct

Looking ahead to the week of May 14-20:
- Tuesday May 16 will be the first Fergburgs of the season to support the Youth Sailing School. $10 per person will get you the best burger in town and a couple of sides. Grilling from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. unless we run out of burger first!
- Friday May 19 once again is “Cocktails at the Club”, same routine…starts about 5:30 p.m., bring an appetizer if you wish and see who is there.
- Saturday May 20 is the Mexican Dinner hosted by Mark and Patty Otto and their crew. Menu to include: chips & salsa; steak or chicken fajitas with stir fry veggies, sour cream & salsa; rice; spring mix lettuce salad complete with croutons, carrots, cheese, etc & raspberry vinegarette or ranch dressing; pineapple coconut pudding cake. This will be a $15 per person meal, cash or check. Please call or text Sandy Gomez to make a reservation. If you are making a reservation for other members as well as yourself, please let her know. Reservations close Wednesday May 17.
