Happy Sunday LYC on this last day of April. It’s National Oatmeal Cookie Day and also National Raisin Day. So, why not bake a batch or two of Oatmeal Raisin cookies this afternoon and celebrate both events simultaneously!
We start the week with the May General Membership meeting on Tuesday May 2 starting at 7:30 p.m. This would be a good place to bring samples of those cookies from above.
Friday May 5 is the usual “Cocktails at the Club” beginning at 5:30 p.m. Bring an appetizer to share if you wish (not required by any means) and see who shows up. It is a great way to meet and get to know fellow members of the club.
Saturday May 6 is the Kentucky Derby and we are having a party! The fun starts at 5:30 p.m. There will be games and a hat contest leading up to the Derby post time of 6:57 p.m. The “best hat” winner will receive two dinner tickets to a future event.
Following the race, the menu will include: Hot Brown Sliders, Baked Beans, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, and Kentucky Butter Cake. Pimento cheese spread with crackers and pretzels will be available as an appetizer.
$15 per person cash or check at the door.
Please call or text Sandy Gomez at (231) 690-6224 starting today to make a reservation. If you are making a reservation for other members as well as yourself, please let her know. Reservations close Wednesday May 3.

You will find an updated member directory. Please take a look and let me know of errors, misspellings, or anything else out of order so I can make corrections to the master file.
Name tags for members recently joined will be on the “rack” this week. For everyone else, if you do not find yours on your next visit, please let me, Jill Kaines, or Marina McGee know. Additionally, please wear your name tag at any and all events. It lets bartender Becky know that you are a bona fide LYC member without her having to ask for your membership card as proof, makes things move smoothly at the bar, and keeps us out of trouble with the Liquor Control Commission
