Annual Meeting Tomorrow

17 Oct

The Annual Membership Meeting will be Tuesday October 18 convening at 7:30 p.m.  On the agenda will be the election of Flag Officers for 2023.  The nominating committee is recommending the following members to serve as LYC Officers in 2023:  Commodore, Jim McGee; Vice Commodore, Steve Leedham; Rear Commodore, Alex Zaydel; Treasurer, Brian Moore; and Secretary, Denny Lavis.  Nominations will also be accepted from the floor the evening of the meeting.

As well, the Board of Directors is recommending an increase in annual dues to $225 per year.  Dues have not increased since 2016.  According to the LYC Bylaws, this proposal requires a vote of the membership present at the Annual Meeting.

At their recent meeting, the Board also decided to eliminate the reimbursable social activity fee for 2023 and thus all dinner events next season will be on a cash “pay as you attend” basis.  The reimbursable fee was implemented in 2012 to encourage participation in the various social dinner events at the club.  With the subsequent increase in membership in recent years and the increased participation in dinner events, the Board felt it no longer necessary to continue this practice.  However, the Board also recognized that doing so may result in a shortfall of funds and as such is recommending the increase in dues for all memberships in 2023.

The Annual Meeting of Shareholders will follow the annual meeting for the purpose of electing 3 members to the Board of Directors for terms to expire in 2025.  This meeting should about 8:30 p.m.
Cocktails at the Club continue Friday October 21 & 28 beginning about 5:30 p.m. and continuing until ?.  Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and mingle with other LYC members…time is growing short this season.

It’s also National Sports Day.  How about those Spartans yesterday?  Spartan coach Mel Tucker is 2-0 against the Wolverines from Ann Arbor, anything is possible. SO, Mark your calendar for Souper Saturday October 29 for the annual MSU vs. U of M football game gathering.  Plan to bring your favorite soup to share.  Rumor has it that there will be shredded pork for sandwiches on hand as well.  Time for the party will be announced as soon as the game kickoff time is announced.
