Thanks to Mark & Patty Otto and crew for a successful Mexican Dinner Saturday. Thirty members and guests enjoyed a socially distant dining experience; most dined outdoors and dinner was plated and delivered to tables. They demonstrated we can make it work! It also was a good introduction for Andy Hamilton, our bartender…thanks Andy!
Next up is the alternate Tuesday (June 30) fundraiser for the sailing school. Jill Kaines and Gail Kretchman are serving up “Potato Pigs” consisting of a baked potato topped with BBQ pulled pork, cheese, bacon, and green onion with sour cream on the side along with a side salad for $10 per person. Since this is a fundraiser for LYSS, membership card “punches” will not be honored; cash or check will. Serving from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. Weather forecast looks good for outdoor dining if you so choose. Always available to go. Indoor seating is appropriately distanced.
Sailboat Racing: Every Wednesday evening beginning at 6:00 p.m. (get to dock earlier to catch a ride or race)
The inaugural race of the 2020 Corona Cup season got started with more of a whimper than a bang. The field of 2 boats were greeted with very light winds ranging from 1-5 knots, making the southern progress slow. Despite the lack of wind, it was a beautiful day on the water. The sun was shining, the air was fresh and at least for a short period of time the flies were not biting. After about 90 minutes and with a little more than a half mile left to the first mark, a decision was made to call the race at 7:24pm.So I guess the “Official results this week look something like this:
BOAT | Captain/Crew | Finish | Comments |
Serendipity | Dave Golder Ken Wierenga | DNF | Race called 7:24pm- Low wind |
Poppy T | Shelley & Tim Tibbits Bridgette & Dick Hubbard Caleb Lamb | DNF | Race called 7:24pm- Low wind |
Special recognition this week goes to the crew of Serendipity (Dave Golder & Ken Wierenga). This is Dave’s first season as a boat owner at LYC so it was great to see him out there Wednesday.I hope to see more of you off the dock this week. Early weather reports show that Wednesday may be the nicest day this week? Wishing everyone a fantastic week!
Tim Tibbits
