Bloomer Cup Week

12 Sep

It’s Sunday evening September 11, 2022 and 21 years ago many of us were glued to the TV not believing what happened today.  Let us never forget and always remember the 2,077 innocents that were lost that day and continue to pray for those left behind.

Cocktails at the Club – Friday September 16  starting about 5:30 p.m. as usual.  Bring an appetizer (or not) and mingle with other members.
But before all that – Tuesday September 13 – FERGBURGS!  Last one for the season (maybe).  Serving starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.  $10 donation per person continues to get you the best burger in town with a choice of sides (there may be mac & cheese as an addition).  Come out and support the sailing school.
Bloomer Cup
What a great weekend!  Thanks to everyone involved from the Race Committee (and boat) to the Social Committee to our bartender Becky and to everyone who attended.  It was a great race day and dinner after.  Attached are the results of the race.  We had the largest entry of boats in years!!  Also attached are a couple of recipes that were served at the after race dinner and requested by many attendees.  Looking forward to next year already!

Opportunities at LYC

9 Sep

Opportunity to Serve
The good news, Connie & Jim Gillette have sold their condo and will be off on new adventures September 30.  The bad news, Connie is the LYC Treasurer and she has submitted her resignation.  Connie has done an excellent job and we all wish her & Jim the best.

That said, LYC is now looking to our membership for the next Treasurer.  This volunteer Flag Officer position takes only a few hours of time weekly to pay bills, make deposits, and maintain “the books”.  Knowledge of Quickbooks would be helpful.  There is a dedicated laptop computer that goes with the position.  Connie & Jim wintered in Florida and she was able to do everything remotely during the time she was away from Ludington.  Connie will be available until the end of the month to assist with the transition.
If you have an interest in helping the Club, please let me know either by response to this email or by giving me a call (231-499-1220).  I also encourage you to call Connie (616-745-7840) to get her take on what being the LYC Treasurer entails.

SEAWALL REPAIR

Work to repair on the seawall is now complete.  The final step to reinstall the boardwalk was undertaken Tuesday by a LYC crew of Dave Golder, Jeff Yeager, Jim McGee, Al Buck, and Gary Ferguson.  Jeff, Gary, and Chris Patulski also completed an emergency repair to a burst water line on the west dock Wednesday.

NEW LIGHTS

New LED lights have been installed on the north and south ends of the clubhouse as well as a motion sensitive light fixture by the west door.

BBQ GRILLS

All of the grills on the south deck are now functional. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE…take a few minutes to clean them after each use!
