Raft Off Party (and other upcoming events)

Just a reminder about the Raft Off scheduled for this Saturday.  Those seeking a ride, meet at the Club at 5:30 p.m.  Those with boats can come to the Club or proceed to Parlor “B” in the southwest corn of PM Lake.  Scheduled time is 6 until Twilight.  Bring an appetizer to share if you would like but come on over and join the fun.  If you have never participated in an adventoure like this, there is a treat instore for you. The Raft Off is being hosted by Tom and Sally Hendricks.

Mark you calendars for the Cheeseburgers in Paradise Party on August 25.  The event is being hosted by Ron and Adam Lamb and social hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by dinner at 7.  The cost is $10.

After that will be Bloomer Cup Weekend beginning with a feeder race from Pentwater to Ludington on Saturday 9/1.  That race will be will be finished off with Brats and Corn at 6p.m. hosted by Mike Grubich and his team.  cost is $10. Sunday will be the traditional Bloomer Cup Race (for details contact Dale Fitch).  That evening at 6 p.m. everyone is invited to a steak dinner and party with music supplied by Jimmi Dodson and company.  Cost is $10  Monday morning there will be breakfast – with take out available –  from 8 a.m. until noon.  Cost is $7.

All Bloomer Cup activities are open to ALL members and guests regardless of whether or not they race.

2012 Bloomer Cup is announced!

The Ludington Yacht Club cordially invites all area skippers to participate in this year’s Bloomer Cup. The 2012 races will be held on September 1 and 2, 2012 which is with cooperation of the Pentwater Yacht Club. The official race announcement is here. We have moved the date from prior years to allow travel time for area boaters. We have also instituted the cruising class to encourage participation and allow more boaters to participate in the fun.

We think the Bloomer Cup is one of the highlights of the local boating season and encourage your participation. We are again hosting this event over the Labor Day weekend to provide more time to move boats from neighboring ports. Our plan is for Ludington boats to spend Friday evening in Pentwater, so please join us if you can. If you have any question, please contact the Ludington Yacht Club or call Dale Fitch. We hope to see you on the water.

This is an annual event with separate divisions for the spinnaker, main and jib and cruising class fleets. Trophies will be awarded for all divisions. Race details are contained in the entry form and the sailing instructions.

SATURDAY EVENTS

The Pentwater to Ludington race will start at 2 PM off the Pentwater harbor entrance. The race will finish off the Ludington harbor entrance. There will be dockage and food and beverage service available at the Ludington Yacht Club after the race. Entry fee for the Pentwater to Ludington race is $10.

SUNDAY EVENTS

Entry forms are  due not later than 11 AM at the Ludington Yacht Club. Race instructions will be available at 11 AM at the club.

First Start of the Bloomer Cup will be at 1:30 PM. There will be separate starts for the spinnaker division, main & jib division and the cruising class.

After the conclusion of the race, all race participants and members of PYC or LYC are invited to the Bloomer Cup Dinner and Party. Dinner will begin approximately 6 PM. After dinner there will be an awards presentation and music by DJ until approximately 11 PM.
