General Membership meeting Tuesday September 4 at 7:30 p.m.
Tuesday September 4: Fergburgs in support of the youth sailing school. Serving from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. ahead of the general membership meeting. Burgers are $5 per person. Bring a dish to share if you wish.
Cocktails at the Club continue every Friday evening beginning around 5:00 p.m. Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and see who shows up. It’s a great time to get to know fellow LYC members.
BLOOMER CUP WEEKEND (September 7-9) IS RAPIDLY APPROACHING: For those not in the know, the Bloomer Cup is our annual sailboat race that attracts sailors to LYC for the weekend starting Friday with a reception and outdoor movie, and the race and dinner with entertainment on Saturday.
The fun starts Friday with cocktails at the club and works into the evening with the showing of “Captain Ron” outdoors at dusk.
The Bloomer Cup starts in Lake Michigan at 1:30 p.m. Saturday following the skippers meeting at 11:00 a.m.
The Bloomer Cup dinner follows the sailboat race and is slated for about 6:00 p.m. Saturday (reservations not required). This is a $15 per person dinner; steak is provided to be grilled to perfection by you! There will be entertainment under the tent following dinner, race results and awards ceremony.
All members, whether they sail or not, are encouraged to attend the dinner and entertainment on Saturday; plan to arrive in the afternoon in time for socializing and dinner.
Dale Fitch is looking for volunteers to assist in making the weekend event a success. He needs members to help in all aspects; committee boat timers & record keeping, members with powerboats who would like to set and retrieve marks and members to help with this, help with movie night on Friday evening, assist with setup, execution, and cleanup of the dinner (a grill your own steak (meat provided) event) on Saturday, and a final cleanup on Sunday. Please call Dale to volunteer! Race information and entry forms are attached.
