LYC Not-Happenings Update

29 Jun
Not a lot to report.  We are still in a holding pattern in terms of activities.  All activities continue to be on hold at this time.
Consumers Energy is working with our electricians to restore power.  Hopefully that will occur sometime next week.  After that, contractors will work to install and make operable a new sewer system that will allow us to have working bathrooms again.  Once that is done, we can resume our event schedule.
We will however plan to hold the monthly membership meeting on Tuesday July 2 at 7:30 p.m.  Just be aware there is no electrical power (beer is warm!) and facilities are of the port-a-john type at the moment.  Hopefully we will have some further updates to the timeline then.
We all appreciate your patience as we try to work through these issues to get the club back on track as soon as feasibly possible.

Update on Event Changes

18 Jun
  • The “Alternate Tuesday” dinner for this evening (6/18) is cancelled. Regular scheduled Tuesday “Ferg Burgs” and Alternate Tuesday events should return to normal next week.
  • The Rib Dinner scheduled for Saturday (6/22) has been postponed until next week (6/29)
    •  If you have reservations currently, we will automatically transfer them to next week. Please contact Sandy Gomez if you are unable to attend next week.
The reason for these changes were to allow us time to assess and address our plumbing issue. The good news is that we have a solution. We have contracted with Hallack Construction and work has begun on a septic system that solves our high water problem. The work is expected to take 2-3 weeks. Unfortunately, our toilets will be out of commission during this time and we we will have to bring in Porta-Potties as an interim measure. These should be in place in the next day or so. Please note that the kitchen facilities and sinks in the bathrooms will remain functional throughout this time period.
The plumbing problem was our last major hurdle to overcome due to the high water, once we have the new system up and running we should be able to get back to business ans usual and enjoy the remainder of the summer.
I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding as we deal with this regrettable and unavoidable situation.
