Ludington Yacht Club

Cocktails at the Club continue Friday October 7 beginning about 5:30 p.m. and continuing until ?.  Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and mingle with other LYC members…time is growing short this season.  Friday cocktails will continue each Friday for the month of October.
Mark your calendar for Souper Saturday October 29 for the annual MSU vs. U of M football game gathering.  Plan to bring your favorite soup to share.  Rumor has it that there will be shredded pork for sandwiches on hand as well.  Time will be announced as soon as it is available. 

The Annual Membership Meeting will be Tuesday October 18 convening at 7:30 p.m.  On the agenda will be the election of Flag Officers for 2023.  As well, the Board of Directors is recommending an increase in annual dues to $225 per year.  Dues have not increased since 2016.  According to the LYC Bylaws, this proposal requires a vote of the membership present at the Annual Meeting. 

At their recent meeting, the Board also decided to eliminate the reimbursable social activity fee for 2023 and thus all dinner events next season will be on a cash “pay as you attend” basis.  The reimbursable fee was implemented in 2012 to encourage participation in the various social dinner events at the club.  With the subsequent increase in membership in recent years and the increased participation in dinner events, the Board felt it no longer necessary to continue this practice.  However, the Board also recognized that doing so may result in a shortfall of funds and as such is recommending the increase in dues for all memberships in 2023.

The Annual Meeting of Shareholders will follow the annual meeting for the purpose of electing 3 members to the Board of Directors for terms to expire in 2025.

GREAT NEWS!!!Tuesday September 27 – FERGBURGS!  Last one for the season.  Serving starts at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 7:00 p.m.  $10 donation per person continues to get you the best burger in town with a choice of sides.  Come out and support a record breaking year for the sailing school!

Friday September 30 will be Cocktails at the Club once again.  Starting about 5:30 p.m.  Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and see who shows up.  The plan is to continue this Friday evening social event into October.
The Annual Membership & Stockholder Meeting will be Tuesday October 18 this year.  The membership meeting convenes at 7:30 p.m. with the stockholder meeting to immediately follow.  Information about the annual meeting will be forthcoming as the date nears.
In a related matter, I am pleased to announce that member Brian Moore was appointed by the Board of Directors at their recent meeting to serve as the LYC interim Treasurer until the Annual Membership meeting in October.  He will be recommended by the nominating committee as a candidate to fill the office of treasurer at that meeting.  Congratulations and thanks to Brian for stepping up.
