Good Sunday Evening LYC!
Where did July go?  Wasn’t the 4th just this past Thursday?  I’m pretty certain August will follow at the same blinding speed.  But for tonight, just kick back and enjoy what is left of National Milk Chocolate Day.  Also on this day in 1907, Earl S. Tupper, an American inventor, developed plastic storage containers with tight-fitting lids known as Tupperware.  The first Tupperware party followed the next day.

This week at LYC:

Tuesday July 30 -“Grilled Chicken & Shredded Pork” in support of the Youth Sailing School. Menu offering includes: Shredded pork or grilled chicken breast sandwiches (both of which are receiving rave reviews) served on a toasted bun with a variety of condiments available, french fries, and coleslaw, all for $12 per person.  Serving from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. All proceeds go to the Sailing School. Skip cooking Tuesday dinner at home, come down to the club, enjoy some genuine LYC camaraderie and support the LYSS.  Members and their guests are welcome.

Friday August 2 & Saturday August 3 – Chieftain Cup Regatta sponsored by the Pentwater and Ludington Yacht Clubs (see attached flyer) . Activities begin in Pentwater on Friday with a gathering of skipper’s and crew at 11:00 a.m., a skipper’s meeting at 12:30 p.m. and the start of the Chieftain Cup Leg #1 race to Ludington at 1:30 p.m.   Following the race, our Friday night “Cocktails at the Club” will welcome all participants and members of both Clubs

On Saturday, the race continues with a morning gathering of skipper’s & crew at 10:00 a.m. with the skipper’s meeting at 12 Noon and the start of the Chieftain Cup leg #2 race to Pentwater set to start at 1:00 p.m. Cocktails, Dinner and Awards Ceremony will follow at about 6:00 p.m. at the Pentwater Yacht Club along with  music by Nathan Dill for members of both Clubs.

Saturday August 10 – “Wing on Wing” annual chicken wing dinner (see attached flyer).  Please call or text Sandy to make a reservation.  If you are making reservations for other members as well as yourself, please let her know this.  Reservations will close Wednesday August 7.

Friday August 16 –  Benefit for Ludington Resource Center

Saturday August 17 – Walleye Dinner #2

Tuesday August 20 – Fergburgs

This week at LYC

Tomorrow, Tuesday July 23 – FERGBURGS to support the Sailing School.  Grill is open from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. unless we run out of burgers first.  Same drill as always, $12 per person gets you the most famous burger around and a choice of sides.

THURSDAY JULY 25:  Competitive sailboat racing continues.  Boats leave the docks around 4:30 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. start.  The formal race announcement will be posted mid-week.  There will no longer be food available, prior to or following the race, as the demand just wasn’t there for the effort and cost put forth.

Friday July 26 – “Cocktails at the Club” starting about 5:30 p.m. Bring an appetizer if you wish or not.  Stop by for this weekly informal gathering of members.  It’s a great way to meet other LYC folks.

Death in the LYC Family: We are sad to announce the passing of Russ Murphy on July 16.  Russ and Joann joined LYC in March of 2019.  Expressions of sympathy can be sent to Joann (please obtain address via LYC).
