Upcoming Events at LYC – August 11th 2024 + Looking Ahead

Tuesday August 13 – Grilled chicken and shredded pork sandwiches are on the menu for the every other week sailing school fundraiser.  Grill is open from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  Your $12 donation to the sailing school is much appreciated.

Thursday August 14 – Weekly sailboat races continue…

Friday August 16 – LUDINGTON YOUTH RESOURCE CENTER FUNDRAISER.  Once again this summer, LYC is hosting a fundraiser to support the Ludington Youth Resource Center.  Please consider giving generously to this worthy cause and attend a kick-off cocktail party complete with heavy appetizers beginning at 5:30 p.m. to learn more about this great benefit to the youth of our community. The Center supports the needs of area youth who sometimes fall through the cracks.  The Center is run fully by volunteers and provides everything from food, clothing, hygiene and household items to car and home repairs. The Center is under the direction of Mark Boon.  Mark will be on hand to share some of his goals for the coming year.  He will be introducing his supporting staff as he prepares to retire in the not-too-distant future. The Committee thanks you in advance for your generous donations to this most worthy cause that the LYC membership has supported for many years.

SATURDAY AUGUST 17 – WALLEYE DINNER #2.  Menu to include:  Walleye fillet, hush puppies, coleslaw, wild rice, clam chowder, and dessert.  Cost is $15 per person.  

Social at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m.  Please call Sandy Gomez to make a reservation by Wednesday August 14.

LOOKING AHEAD: Tuesday August 20 – FERGBURGS“Cocktails at the Club” happens on Friday August 23 starting around 5:30 p.m.

Saturday August 24 – PEEL & EAT SHRIMP DINNER.  Menu will include boiled shrimp, red skin potato, vinegar coleslaw, ciabatta rolls, and dessert.  $15 per person.  Social at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m. Please make reservations with Sandy  prior to Wednesday August 21

Upcoming Events at LYC – August 4th 2024 + Looking Ahead

It’s Sunday…Sunday…Sunday and National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day! Also, in 1790 the Revenue Cutter Service, parent service of the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard, is organized.  Perhaps that is why today is also National Coast Guard Day.

REMINDER: Cody Leedham and crew are hosting the annual Chicken “Wing on Wing” dinner this Saturday August 10.  Menu to include Cody Leedham’s, Greg Moyers, & Alex Zadel’s famous (and huge!) chicken wings with a variety of sauces to embellish the wings to your desire, Greg & Michelle Moyers famous “cowboy baked beans”, Dawn Leedham’s equally famous Tex Mex salad, someone else’s famous mac & cheese, and Linda Zaydel’s famous Texas sheet cake for dessert. Drink special will be “Dark & Stormys”.  Cost is $15 per person.  Social gathering at 6:00 p.m. with dinner at 7:00 p.m.  Please call or text Sandy at to make a reservation for this “famous” dinner.  If you are making reservations for other members as well as yourself, please let her know this.  Reservations will close Wednesday August 7.


ALSO THIS WEEK:Tuesday August 6
 is the August membership meeting scheduled to convene at 7:30 p.m.  Attached are bios for the applicants up for a second reading and membership vote at this meeting.

FERGBURGS is also Tuesday ahead of the meeting from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.  C’mon down for the best $12 burger in town, support the Sailing School,  and plan to stay for the membership meeting that follows.
Competitive weekly sailing resumes Thursday August 8 following a successful 2-day Chieftain Cup Regatta this past Friday and Saturday.  Thanks to everyone involved in organizing and staging this event. Results to follow.
