Upcoming Events at LYC – August 13th 2023 + Looking Ahead

Reservations are now open for the Shrimp Dinner next week on Friday August 18 and Saturday August 19.

Cost will be $15 per person cash. Social starts at 6:00 p.m. with dinner served at 7:00 p.m. each evening. Menu to include: peel & eat shrimp, cheesy potato, salad, corn on the cob, rolls, snacks, and dilly bar for dessert.

Please call or text Sandy to place a reservation. If you text or leave a message please include full name and which night you wish to reserve. If you are making reservations for other members as well as for yourself, please let her know this as well.

Gregg McMillen: Celebration of Life

Linda & Keely wish everyone to know that Gregg’s Celebration will be held at the Yacht Club Sunday August 13, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Please join them in celebrating Gregg’s life.

Tuesday, August 15, is the “Alternate Tuesday” in support of the Youth Sailing School.

Menu offering includes: Shredded pork or grilled chicken breast served on a toasted bun with a variety of condiments available, tater tots, and special ingredient coleslaw, all for $10 per person. Serving from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. All proceeds go to the Sailing School. Skip cooking Tuesday dinner, come down to the club, enjoy some yachting camaraderie, and support LYSS. The chicken sandwich two weeks ago received rave reviews!! Members and their guests are welcome.

Thursday August 17 will see the weekly sailboat races out on the big lake.

Please join us on Sunday August 20 from 1pm to 5pm for the second annual LYC Art Show & Fundraiser.

Marina McGee and Luci Lavis came up with this idea last year and the response has been inspiring! Artist entry fees and 15% of all sales will be donated to the American Cancer Society. There will be a wide variety of arts and crafts represented at this year’s show. A bake sale is also planned. We have a special liquor license for this event so please invite your friends as non-members can enjoy a glass of wine, mimosa, or something else as they browse the offerings. Volunteers can still help with set up, take down, and clean up and to provide entries for the bake sale. Contact Luci Lavis or Marina McGee if you wish to lend a hand.

It’s Sunday and besides being National Wiggle Your Toes Day, you know what that means? Reservations are open for this coming Saturday’s dinner event!

Saturday August 12 – Wing Ding Dango

Hosted by Greg & Michelle Moyers. Menu includes chicken wings that are coated with a dry rub, grilled till half done, then finished in the oven. A selection of sauces will be available at the serving table. Cole slaw, baked beans, and a tex-mex salad will be served with the wings followed with chocolate Texas sheet cake for dessert. All this for $15 per person cash or check. Social begins at 6:00 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7:00 p.m. Please call or text Sandy to make a reservation. If you are making reservations for other members as well as yourself, please let her know. Reservations close Thursday August 10.

Tuesday August 8 is FERGBURGS

in support of the Sailing School. $10 per person donation gets you the best burger in town and choice of sides (potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, or Texas style creamed corn) along with Charro Beans for those who want to add some spice to their life. First burgers come off the grill at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m.

Thursday’s weekly sailboat race particulars will be announced later.

Friday August 11

is Cocktails at the Club starting about 5:30 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. or so. Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and join this very informal gathering of members.

Sunday August 13

Volunteers are needed to help with set up, take down, and clean up. Also needed are members willing to provide entries for the bake sale and to staff the sale. I’m certain that we have a whole lot of great bakers out there with some fabulous recipes whose contributions would make for a great sale and addition to the art show & sale.
