Upcoming Events at LYC – August 27th 2023 + Looking Ahead

28 Aug

A huge thanks to Brad Beagle and Cory Rogers (and their helper friends) for the absolutely outstanding Italian dinner last evening. An intimate group of 54 were treated to the best baked lasagna, grilled chicken penne with alfredo sauce, antipasti salad, garlic bread, and tiramisu I have ever had. Those that were there know what I’m talking about and everyone else missed out! Also, as usual, Becky deserves a big thank you for all she does at the bar and a skidizillion other things in the background!

Tuesday, August 29, is the “Alternate Tuesday” in support of the Youth Sailing School

Menu offering includes: Shredded pork or grilled chicken breast served on a toasted bun with a variety of condiments available, tater tots, and special ingredient coleslaw, all for $10 per person. Serving from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. All proceeds go to the Sailing School. Skip cooking Tuesday dinner, come down to the club, enjoy some yachting camaraderie, and support LYSS. The chicken and shredded pork sandwiches are receiving rave reviews!! Members and their guests are welcome.

Friday September 1 (can you believe it?) is Cocktails at the Club

starting about 5:30 p.m. Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and join this very informal gathering of members.

Nothing is on tap for Labor Day weekend.

Tuesday September 5 is FERGBURGS

in support of the Sailing School. $10 per person donation gets you the best burger in town and choice of sides (potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, or Texas style creamed corn) along with Charro Beans for those who want to add some spice to their life. First burgers come off the grill at 5:30 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m.

Following Fergburgs, is the September General Membership Meeting that will convene at 7:30 p.m.

Have a great week and upcoming Labor Day weekend everyone.

Upcoming Events at LYC – August 20th 2023 + Looking Ahead

20 Aug

Friday’s Shrimp dinner was a great success.  What a feast!  Many thanks to Bill & Sylvia Edwards, Rodger & Patty James, Ros & Sheryl Stovall, Dan Connolly, Al Buck, & Stan Haines for hosting Friday’s dinner.  I am certain tonight’s crew (including Gail Kretchman, Wally & Joanne Sodosty, Pete & Jackie Christensen, Sherry Gartside, Scott & Guen Hultman, Jo Johnson & others) will carry on the tradition and it will be an outstanding meal as well.  Thanks to everyone who comes out in support of the Club!

NEXT DINNER EVENT: Saturday August 26 – ITALIAN DINNER!

Hosted by Brad Beagle and Cory Rogers & crew.  The menu will include Grilled Chicken Linguini with Alfredo Sauce, Baked Lasagna, Italian chopped Antipasti Salad, Garlic Bread, and for dessert, Tiramisu.  Cost will be $15 per person cash.  Please call or text Sandy to make a reservation today, don’t procrastinate!  If you are making reservations for other members as well as yourself, please let her know.  Reservations will close at the end of the day on Wednesday August 23.

Sunday August 20 from 1pm to 5pm

is the second annual LYC Art Show & Fundraiser for the American Cancer Society.  There will be a wide variety of arts and crafts represented at this year’s show.  A bake sale is also planned.  We have a special liquor license for this event so please invite your friends as non-members can enjoy a glass of wine or other libation as they browse the offerings.

Tuesday August 22 is FERGBURGS

in support of the Sailing School. Two weeks ago saw us serve a record number of burgers (nearly 100).  We are changing up the order process a bit.  Like the “Alternate Tuesday” event, we ask that you place & pay for your order when you are ready to eat and the order will be submitted to the kitchen crew for preparation at that time.  The current “order holding” process has become too unwieldy for the crew to manage.  Let’s see how this works.

Thursday’s weekly sailboat race particulars will be announced later.

Friday August 25 is Cocktails at the Club

starting about 5:30 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. or so.  Bring an appetizer to share if you wish and join this very informal gathering of members.
