LYC August 30 through September 5

Tuesday, August 30, Tim Tibbits and his crew will be serving Coney Dogs, 2 for $5.  All proceeds will go to LYSS.  They will be serving from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.  Your sides are always welcome but not mandatory.
Wednesday is Happy Hour with 50 cents off drinks and the bar will furnish the munchies.  Serving from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.
Beer Can sailboat races are on Wednesday as well.  Skippers meeting & course determination is at 6.
Cocktails @ the Club start 5ish…  Your appetizers to share are always welcome, but not mandatory.  Come down and unwind at the prettiest marina in Ludington!
Saturday is an open day, but Sunday September 4th is the traditional Bloomer Cup sail boat race and pig roast.  This year’s race is a “pursuit race” meaning that the slower boats start first, followed by the faster boats.  This alleviates all the confusion and intimidation at the start line.  Perfect for beginners!  Skippers meeting is at 11 a.m. and the race starts at 1 p.m. The course will be determined at this time as well.  The deadline for applications is at 11 a.m. Sunday.

The race is followed by the pig roast complete with roasted red potatoes, corn and tossed salads, rolls and desert.  this is a $10 dinner.  We have a special event liquor license allowing racers and guests who are not members to purchase drinks that day. The awards ceremony will follow dinner.

Reservations are open for the Old Fashioned Picnic on Saturday Aug. 27th.  Call Gail at 616-490-1255. Do not respond on the website or on Facebook.  Connie Robinson and her crew are preparing a real old fashioned picnic dinner in a basket for us all.  The menu includes Beef Sandwiches, Beans, Watermelon Salad, Chips and Peach Cobbler.  The food and everything else you need to enjoy this dinner will be on your table in a basket ready for you to spread out wherever you please.  Take it outside or stay inside – the choice is yours.  It’s a $10 dinner or a punch.  Cocktails @ 6 followed by dinner @ 7.  Kaye is featuring Strawberry Margaritas for $2.
Tuesday night  Gary and his crew will be serving up Ferg Burgers for the measly fee of $5.  All proceeds go to support LYSS.  Your sides are welcome but not mandatory.  Serving starts @ 5:30 through 7:00 p.m.

A word about planning ahead….Sunday September 4th is the annual Bloomer Cup Sailboat Race.  This is a historic event at LYC and the race committee has been working to resurrect it to it’s original attendance and participation.  If you have a sailboat or would like to crew on one, please visit the LYC website and download an application.  The race is followed by a Pig Roast for all members and guests.  Cocktails at 5 followed by dinner at 6 ( a change from the normal time of 7).  It’s a $10 or a punch dinner.  You can make reservations by calling Gail616-490-1255 or responding to this email.  Again, please do not respond on the website or Facebook.
