End of Season Events at LYC – Week of Oct 13th 2024

14 Oct

Sixty seven members and guests were treated to a great Corned Beef dinner last Friday evening.  Thanks to Steve Miller for organizing and overseeing a remarkable crew composed of Dave & Cindy Windsor, Lynn & Nancy Pontz, Tom & Marge Carlson, Becky Erickson, and corn beef brisket slicer extraordinaire, Me!  So ends the 2024 LYC dinner event season.

There is however one last item on the event calendar before the club closes for the season.  Tuesday, October 15 @ 7:30 p.m is the Annual Membership Meeting. Following this meeting will be the Annual Board of Directors meeting as well as the Annual Meeting of LYC Shareholders.  All members are welcome to attend all meetings.

I want to remind all dock holders that your 2025 reservation deposit of $250 is due by October 31, 2024.  You should have received an email stating such a couple weeks ago.  If you didn’t, please let me know.

It has been a great 2024 season at LYC and hope you all look forward to 2025.  At this point, I will no longer clog your email inbox on a weekly (and sometimes bi-weekly) basis.  I will however be in touch after the first of the year to ask for your continued support of the LYC in the form of 2025 dues…watch for an email and postcard in your snail mail.  That’s assuming I am re-elected as Secretary of this outfit once again on Tuesday🤣.

I wish you all a safe, healthy, and comfortable winter in whatever part of the country you are in and look forward to seeing everyone once again in 2025.

Upcoming Events at LYC – Sept 29th 2024 + Looking Ahead

30 Sep

Monday, is Orange Shirt Day and National Love People Day. I guess that means you can legitimately hug a stranger in an orange shirt.  And if that is not enough, Monday is also National Chewing Gum day…does your chewing gum lose its flavor on the bedpost overnight?

Great Chili Fest dinner Saturday night.  The variety of chilis were just outstanding; traditional red, veggie, and white.  The red went well over the hot dogs which were grilled to perfection.  Klondike Bars for dessert were a real treat! Hats off to the hosts Rick & Noreen Mayfield and their crew of Hank Lawrie, Bill & Jeanie Weber, Ted & Ann Cashion, Steve & Cathy Hunt, Beverly Berger, and Mike & Charleen Lester.  I do think they have earned a spot on next season’s event calendar!

Something new planned for Ludington:  I received an unsolicited phone call and email this week from a representative of “ClearSpace Ludington”, a storage condominium project slated for construction in the Ludington Industrial Park.  The units are designed for anyone who would like to own their own storage condo for their boat, RV, autos, or other personal belongings.  I told the rep, Mike Zambetis (616-402-0141), that I would disseminate the information to our membership.  Flyers are attached.

Oh, and the answer to Wednesday’s trivia question, “Who sang lead vocals on 5 one hit wonder songs in the 1970s?”  English musician, Tony Burrows sang the lead vocals on five one hit wonders: Edison Lighthouse’s “Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)” (February 1970); White Plains’ “My Baby Loves Lovin'” (March 1970); the Pipkins’ “Gimme Dat Ding” (April 1970); the First Class’ “Beach Baby” (July 1974); and “United We Stand” (1970) by the first incarnation of the Brotherhood of Man.

Have a great week everyone!
