Upcoming Events at LYC – July 14th 2024 + Looking Ahead

15 Jul

Kudos and many thanks to Adam, Christine & Addy Lamb, Alex Zaydel, and crew for once again hosting and preparing an outstanding rib dinner on Saturday.  Over 70 LYC members and guests were treated to cooked to perfection baby back ribs, butter/garlic/herb redskin potatoes, poppy seed coleslaw, and ice cream bars/sandwiches for dessert. No one went away hungry from this one!

This week at LYC: TUESDAY JULY 16:  “Grilled Chicken & Shredded Pork” in support of the Youth Sailing School. Menu offering includes: Shredded pork or grilled chicken breast sandwiches (both of which are receiving rave reviews) served on a toasted bun with a variety of condiments available, french fries, and coleslaw, all for $12 per person.  Serving from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. All proceeds go to the Sailing School. Skip cooking Tuesday dinner at home, come down to the club, enjoy some genuine LYC camaraderie and support the LYSS.  Members and their guests are welcome.

THURSDAY JULY 18:  Competitive sailboat racing continues.  Boats leave the docks around 4:30 p.m. for a 5:30 p.m. start.  The formal race announcement will be posted mid-week.  There will no longer be food available, prior to or following the race, as the demand just wasn’t there for the effort and cost put forth.
Friday July 19 – “Cocktails at the Club” starting about 5:30 p.m.

Bring an appetizer if you wish or not.  Stop by for this weekly informal gathering of members.  It’s a great way to meet other LYC folks.

Although not a LYC event, please consider attending:

Saturday, July 20th, 2024 – 4-10pm: Lakeshore Pyrate Heads Buccaneer Bash  at the Ludington Boat Club- 502 Lake St., Ludington.  Food trucks, silent & live raffle items, live music featuring Jimmy Dodson & Kenny Howell from 4-6pm and RPM from 6-9pm, and prizes for best Pirate Attire. $5 at the door, kids 12 and under are free. Proceeds benefit the Alzheimer’s Association.

Other Stuff:
The firepit located on the north side of the clubhouse is now operational thanks to a large volunteer group headed by Jon Erickson and Steve Clare.  Thanks to everyone who made this happen.  I attach the instructions for operation here and they are also posted in the clubhouse.  If you have any questions about operation, PLEASE ask before trying to operate as there are many “fail-safe” steps to safe operation. Most importantly, always replace the operations key after using as it is the only one currently in existence.  Also, if you drag chairs off the deck to sit around the fire pit, please return said chairs to the deck before leaving.
